About Us

I make and sell functional, domestic ware pottery, in my studio on Island Street in Salcombe, Devon.

My new studio allows people to come in, off the street and watch me work. They are able to see how my pottery is made, from wiring off clay, to throwing, glazing and firing. If they want to buy my wares, they can – straight off the shelf.

I tend to gravitate towards clean, modest designs. I make my own glazes – their intention is to enhance the form of my pottery, not to dress it up. What I love the most, is that a thing can be both beautiful and useful – it is with this in mind, that I make.

I am now offering lessons so that you can learn how to throw. Two hour lessons available either one on one, or, in a class of two for £110 – £160

You will be given your own wheel and for the duration of the lesson, we will work on:

. the fundamental techniques of throwing

. cutting your pots to expose their cross section and evaluating your work

. how to “wire off”, or, remove pots from the wheel

Although my lessons are aimed at those who want to learn how to throw, what I hope for the most is that you will have fun!

My lessons are both open to beginners and those who have thrown before. For those who have previous experience, want to focus on specific techniques during a lesson, or, focus on regular progression, please enquire. The price of a lesson includes all materials and two pots per person, which I will turn back, bisque fire, glaze and glaze fire in stock white.
