This is an unmanned “Farm Strip’, 600m x 24m grass bordered by crops both sides.
The runway is in good condition but previous experience of farm strip flying is recommended.

The Airfield is operated by Bolt Head Aero Club, being the locally based pilots, on behalf of the Landowners, Squire Bros.

Visiting pilots are welcome, but PPR is mandatory for all flights and is Online only.

Ferries & Cruises

The Lady Mary

Our 50 seat passenger vessel operates the Kingsbridge Salcombe ferry service and various cruises on the sheltered scenic waters,  between Kingsbridge and Salcombe, during the spring summer autumn months as well as The Christmas Holidays in the beautiful South Devon harbour  of Salcombe.

The harbour and creeks are found within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and have been designated both a marine Site of Special Scientific Interest by English Nature, as well as a marine Local Nature Reserve by South Hams District Council.

KINGSBRIDGE SALCOMBE FERRY

A scenic 35 minute trip each way follows a the main waterways and channels between Salcombe and Kingsbridge, historic lime kilns, Saltstone Island, a wide variety of bird life, hundreds of yachts and boats, and panoramic vistas of Salcombe.

The perfect peaceful way to see the best of Salcombe Harbour.

EVENING CREEKS CRUISES

Excursions venture up towards the upper reaches of some of Salcombe harbour’s tranquil waterways which may include Frogmore, South Pool, Waterhead, Blanksmill and Collapit Creeks.  Cruise duration approx two to two and a quarter hours. To join the cruise from Salcombe simply catch the ferry to Kingsbridge.

HARBOUR CRUISES

Cruising the length of the harbour passing the waterfront homes of Salcombe, the sandy beaches opposite, the remnants of Fort Charles Castle, North and South Sands, and extensive views out to sea as the vessel turns near the harbour entrance. Cruise duration one and a half hours. You can join the cruise at Kingsbridge or Salcombe.

South Sands Ferry

The South Sands passenger Ferry runs between Whitestrand, in the centre of Salcombe, and the picturesque beach of South Sands, located at the entrance to Salcombe harbour. A 30 minute ‘round trip’ to South Sands and Back.

Carrying foot passengers, prams and dogs, the South Sands Ferry is a a rare opportunity to travel by boat and experience the famous ‘sea tractor’, which travels out into the water to greet the ferry as it arrives at South Sands Beach.

Harvest Reaper holds a ‘ Class V vessel operating in Category C Waters (Tidal estuaries ……)’ license issued by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. The vessel carries a maximum of 30 passengers with 2 crew, one of whom must hold an MCA Boatmaster Licence.

A full set of safety equipment as specified by the MCA is on-board, including; a 35 man Open Reversible Life-raft, life jackets for all passengers and crew, flares, fire extinguishers, marine radio, automatic bilge pumps etc. and procedures for the safe operation and handling of passengers.

The MCA survey the South Sands Ferry and audit the “Domestic Ship Safety Management System” twice a year.
