The Blue Whale Café, (inside Ashby’s of Salcombe on the Marlborough to Salcombe main road), offers a wholesome, local menu served alongside panoramic views of the South Hams, from the Salcombe Estuary through to Dartmoor.

Easily accessible and with ample customer parking, we are an excellent base from which to explore the beaches, countryside, and towns of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty! Whether you just want a coffee and a slice of cake, or a three-course meal with a glass of wine – we are here for you, 7 days a week!

As an extension of Ashby’s, a family-run, independent South Hams business established in 1987, the Blue Whale Café centres quality, local farm produce with all of our chef-prepared dishes made on-site. To offer a few examples, we have: locally sourced meat from our traditional in-house butcher, artisan bread from our on-site bakery, local produce, and an extensive range from local distilleries and breweries.

Our two shops, Ashby’s of Kingsbridge and Salcombe, exhibit an extensive range of stock suited to the needs of locals and tourists, year-round.

Ashby’s of Salcombe offers an engaging shopping experience as a farm shop, with our own Butchery and Bakery, and with departments including also: Garden, Home, DIY & Hardware, Car Care, Marine Chandlery, Pet Products, Camping and Caravanning, Beach Gear and Watersports.

Our chefs offer a versatile and enjoyable menu with regularly changing ‘Specials’. We maintain vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options and are happy to assist customers who communicate other dietary requirements.
