About Us
The Winking Prawn
So close to the beach you can have lunch in your swimsuit, the Winking Prawn sits just over the road from North Sands. Welcoming visitors for more than 20 years, their shabby chic beach restaurant buzzes with activity as people congregate for lunch, BBQ and all the bits in between.
Seating: For social distancing reasons we will only be opening our outside spaces, which have been extended so we can all enjoy The Winking Prawn as much as possible. It will be table service only for now and we have a brand-new online ordering system in place to minimise contact. Once seated, you will be able to scan a QR Code on your disposable menu from your phone. This will automatically pull up our online ordering system where you can select your meal or drink and we will bring it to your table. Sounds like a plan? We will not be far away for anyone who needs our assistance.
Reservations: We will not be taking reservations for any service, please just turn up and wait to be seated! You may have to queue for a short time until we can ensure your table has been thoroughly sanitized. We will also have to ask you to pop your name and contact details down (government guidelines) hmmmph we hear you say! Perhaps bring your business card with you to save the hassle?
What’s available?
We intend to be open for our breakfast menu, lunch menu, teas, coffees, cakes, alcoholic and soft drinks plus the ever-popular barbecue. Our brand-new Pop-Up Prawn will be looking after those who choose to take away hot drinks, soft drinks, breakfast, lunch, Salcombe Dairy ice cream and the barbecue menu, but sorry there’s no alcohol to go. At this time, we will not be opening our indoor restaurant or serving our al la carte dinner menu.
What’s not available?
- The Sand Pit: Plenty on the beach still – we just need to keep our children safe and by our sides
- Fancy Dress Box: We will miss it too
- Help Yourself: No longer allowed
- Queueing at the WP counter: Hooray!
